Hello Asheville, this is our second and final post for team members. We had a great response with our first posting 6 wks ago, but we’re getting closer and will be holding an ‘audition/meet & greet’ event at PULP (Orange Peel Lower Level) on July 10th at 7pm for anyone who’s interested in showing their stuff, and meeting the Pubcyclers – all are welcome.

Here’s a snipet from the Event of FB – “The format for this event will be an informal open introduction for everyone who has the ambition to join the team. We want to first off throw down a clear understanding of our business model, the goods (bike), partnerships and the timeline. Secondly, have potential Drivers/Entertainers introduce themselves & tell their story to the group; and be creative in showing us how you’d make an excellent driver, entertainer, marketer & poster child for the company.”

ABOUT PUBCYCLE:
We are a new tour company in Asheville, looking for 1-2 drivers/tour guides/entertainers to show our patrons a great time in Asheville!

The driver responsibility portion of the position encompasses navigating the 18′ x 7′ 13-person pedal powered (electric motor assist) Trolley beer bus through our downtown routes, stopping at our partnership establishments for patrons to get their food or drink on, all the while following traffic laws and being concious of other vehicles and pedestrians.

The ‘tour guide/entertainer’ in you will be the ringleader of our themed tours, some which are quite hilarious. You Must be quick with a joke, good at motivating people, explaining the rules, and be the host with the most! Previous entertainment experience that could relate to this position will be highly regarded, but not mandatory.

We’re really looking for an outgoing personality combined with responsibility and common sense to join our family team. Base pay is $10 per hour, plus driver/entertainer takes all the tips, so the performance based pay could end up being quite lucrative for the right person(s). Hoping to beat the streets mid-August.

Our website is now live – www.amazingpubcycle.com , and please check us out at Facebook.com/AmazingPubcycle

Thank you,
Shawn

  1. [...] here and here. About the pubcycle, from a Craigslist ad a few weeks back looking for [...]

  2. Big Al says:

Kinda makes the whole horse-and-carriage thing look a lot better, huh?

(But I am still not on board with either.)

  3. smytty says:

Wow, I hope all these people posting negative knee-jerk comments plan to go check out this “meet and greet.” You sure seem to have made up your minds based on very little information.

Hard to imagine that someone would go to all this trouble without considering some of the obvious questions involved. Why not meet up with them next week and hear what they have to say before flooding a message board with your own ill-informed reactions?

  4. Chris says:

Seems like a tremendous amount of responsibility to expect from someone for only $10/hr. That’s a whopping $25 for an employee to safely navigate potentially drunk tourists, sitting on a bicycle seat, through a congested downtown for 2 1/2 hours, all while entertaining them enough to hopefully make an additional tip.

    • Yeppers says:

Exactly. Driving *while* entertaining–and being paid 10/hr plus tips so being focused on passengers as source of income, NOT focused on the road, pedestrians, other cars.

If they can’t get it together to pay more, they’re stating their priority for profit over public safety.

  5. Doug S. says:

    Sounds fun to me.

  6. Shorty says:

I hope I’m wrong here because I really do love the entrepreneurial spirit. I just see people getting hurt on, in, or around this thing.

  7. Reggie Anderson says:

I was really hoping that I’d seen the last of this horrible business idea. The last thing we need on our already crowded downtown streets is this thing full of drunks. Aren’t there laws against this type of thing? Please go back to wherever you came from and take your drunkcycle with you.

  8. Murphy says:

the “fun quotient” is certainly right up there …

but the traffic snarling and accident potential seem to be high as well IMHO.
