Press release here:

The Asheville Affiliates is currently accepting applications from area non-profit organizations for selection as one of the 10th Anniversary, 2009 Asheville Affiliates fundraising partners. Complete details and applications can be found online at http://affiliatesofasheville.com and the application deadline is Friday, February 20th, 2009.

All local non-profits are encouraged to apply, and the Affiliates board of directors will select the non-profits whose needs match up best with the Affiliates vision for 2009. Once selections are made, the Asheville Affiliates board assists the non-profits in all aspects of planning their fundraiser event, from conception to a caterer. Each of the 3 to 5 events throughout the year is open to the public, and the Asheville Affiliates distributes the invitation to its 3,000+ network, ensuring high attendance.

The Asheville Affiliates have hosted several dozen fundraising events over the last decade and raised over $100,000 for the non-profits served. “Last year we helped our non-profit partners raise nearly $15,000,” says Jonathan Frappier, Asheville Affiliates board president. “Our level of support from the community continues to grow each year and the attendees at our events look forward to the raffle, auction, entertainment and sampling of gourmet food, beer, and wine – all for only $20 with your RSVP – and all in support of a well-deserved area non-profit organization,” Frappier said.

New for 2009

Asheville Affiliates has also added monthly social events to its 2009 mission. This new undertaking is being pursued as a way to build awareness among young professionals of the area non-profit community, but also as a way to offer these same professionals the opportunity to network, socialize and meet others with similar interests. “This enlivens our mission to include not only increasing awareness for the non-profits that we serve through our fundraising efforts, but also to provide an avenue of support and social networking to the young professionals attending our events,” Frappier said. The first social event will be sponsored by The Market Place Restaurant in March and will serve as a kickoff event, where the group will announce the non-profit partners selected to be served in 2009. Says Frappier, “2009, the 10th Anniversary year for Asheville Affiliates will be the best ever for the Asheville Affiliates, new initiatives, new board members and a brand new set of non-profit partners.”
