I posted a blurb earlier about weekend vandalism at The Flood/Phil Mechanic, destruction that hit Asheville artist Sean Pace particularly hard. Pace, aka “Jinx,” needs the community’s help. He’s been working hard on large sculptures that are to be shown in Winston-Salem and Chapel Hill, and his vehicles were severely damaged.

Asheville, can you help?

Here’s a note, passed to be from loyal reader Karen, that drives home the damage.

Hello,

Last night at 3:30am Jinx and I were pulling behind the biodiesel after working at the bar and interfered with two people smashing in his windshield to the cranetruck , smashing in all side and front windows, and lights on his UD Dump Truck, broke inside the truck and tried stealing it (leaving the blinkers on) while ripping up everything inside.  They must have saw our headlights and ran, we did not actually see the people.  There was a pile of large stones in the middle of the driveway, obviously waiting to be thrown next to the Biodiesel trucks, my guess is they were next.

After spending $400 on a new windshield for the UD truck last week because of this same incident 3 weeks ago, we are really upset.  The back light on the dock was on, our bus lights were on, we tried to make it look visible while we were at work.  It did not matter.  The police stayed with us for a while and we have a full report. Other then that there is nothing we can do.  Jinx has worked really hard and has some major shows in Winston-Salem and Chapel Hill the next two weeks, in which he needed these trucks to transport his large sculptures next week.  We are both very sad.

Melissa
