Here’s some of what’s happening on the ever-changing Asheville food and restaurant scene:

-Farm Burger coming? Mountain Xpress free-lance writer Anne Fitten Glenn tweets that Farm Burger is looking to open in the former Ed Boudreax’s barbecue joint location on Biltmore Avenue in downtown Asheville. The location may also serve as home to a new craft brewery called One World Brewing.

Georgia-based Farm Burger, with locations in Buckhead and Decauter, looks like a perfect fit for Asheville. From the Farm Burger website:

Farm Burger is defined by its mission, its farms, its team, and its community. We depend on local farmers, ranchers and land stewards to make your burger as good as it is. From our beef to our tomatoes to our compostable containers to our owners, Farm Burger is sustainable, local, humane, and helping to reroute our food system to function more like an ecosystem than a corporation. Our goal is to connect soil, animal, plant, rancher, butcher, chef & you…all in a simple wire basket.

More as it comes.

-East Coast Wings looking at Asheville locations: North Carolina-based East Coast Wings & Grill is looking to open two or three locations in Asheville over the next five years, according to a spokeswoman for the company. The restaurant says it offers 75 different flavors of chicken wings with 675 different flavor combinations based on heat intensity. It also offers sammiches, salads and more. What’s different about this wing joint? It focuses on family first, rather than alcohol, through a warm environment attractive to parents with children.

-Gluten Free Expo set for Saturday: Here’s the info, via Ingles spokeswoman Leah McGrath, via Carolina Epicurean blog:

We are once again planning our Asheville Gluten Free Expo sponsored by Ingles Markets and the Asheville and Hendersonville Gluten Free Support Groups. This year’s event will be held at the Renaissance Hotel in Asheville, NC on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 10am-2pm.
