Orange Peel update

Back in March, the Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority announced a number of local grants through its tourism development grant program. The TDA also announced a loan guarantee of $300,000 for the Orange Peel once it gets funding for a planned expansion, which will include new seating. Does anybody know what the status of the Orange Peel’s renovation/expansion is?

PR rocks and roses

Since I get so many press releases, I’m going to start calling out some of the best and worst. I just can’t sit idly by. Sorry. I’ll be handing out “rocks” and “roses” accordingly.

So first up: Rocks to the Asheville chapter of the American Red Cross for perhaps the cheesiest quoteeverfrom the head of the local chapter, Patrick Fitzsimmons. C’mon guys. People don’t talk like this:

“We encourage work-mates, class-mates, soul-mates and all vertebrates to participate in this ‘fun-raiser’,” Fitzsimmons added. “The Red Cross depends on the generosity of the communities it serves for its funding. What better way to help out a worthy cause than to have a good time while you’re doing it.”
