Press release here:

ASHEVILLE – Following on the heels of the inaugural Feasting for FEAST event last September, Slow Food Asheville and FEAST are presenting Feasting for FEAST Beer and BBQ Fundraiser. The event takes place from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 14 at Highland Brewing Company.

While the initial event featured many of Asheville’s top restaurants and some of the most succulent food around, the second Feasting for FEAST is a summer festival. It will have beer and BBQ from some of the top restaurants in Asheville, including Okie Dokies Smokehouse, Rosetta’s Kitchen, Early Girl Eatery, Westville Pub and Southern Fryz. All of the meats will be local as well as hormone and antibiotic free. There will be ribs, pulled pork and brisket, everything one would expect at a barbecue.

FEAST, which stands for fresh, easy, affordable, sustainable and tasty, is a Slow Food Asheville program. It gives free hands-on cooking classes to kids in schools and after-school programs. FEAST teaches participants to add more fresh fruits and vegetables to their meals; the impacts of food on the body and brain as well as using food to improve problem-solving and communication skills.

The event will include music and entertainment. There are also plans for a dunk tank as well as door prizes. Tickets to the event are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. They can be purchased at http://www.slowfoodasheville.org/. For more information contact Kate Justen at 828-242-5919 or email her at [email protected].
