Press release here:

When the holidays have come to a close and summer is still out of reach, it’s the perfect time to consider a quiet and romantic getaway to Biltmore in Asheville, N.C.  In the early months of the year, the historic property offers a peaceful retreat following the hectic pace of the holidays.

During the late 1800s, George Vanderbilt’s 8,000-acre estate was designed to be a place of rejuvenation and calm, far away from the busy streets of larger cities.  That same feeling comes through today, especially during this season, when Biltmore offers a sense of escape and serenity.

Also this winter, Biltmore will partner with six of Asheville’s performing arts venues for the Asheville Encore Ticket program.  Those looking to enhance their visit with a live musical performance or stage show from Jan. 4 to March 26, 2010, at any of the participating venues may bring their ticket stub or playbill to Biltmore’s Welcome Center to receive a free Biltmore House Audio Tour or a Buy One Get One Free Specialty Tour with the purchase of an adult daytime admission ticket. The Specialty Tours include “Behind the Scenes,” “Rooftop Tour” and “Legacy of the Land.”  The venues are:

    * Diana Wortham Theatre, www.dwtheatre.com
    * North Carolina Stage Company, www.ncstage.org
    * Asheville Bravo Concerts, www.ashevillebravoconcerts.org
    * The Asheville Lyric Opera, www.ashevillelyric.org
    * The Asheville Community Theater, www.ashevilletheatre.org
    * The Asheville Civic Center

Winter is also the best time for Biltmore packages and values.  Tickets to the estate are $40, or $35 if purchased online.  Children 16 and younger will be admitted free with an accompanying adult.

    Biltmore Estate continues to be the biggest rip-off in Western NC.

    It’s way, way too expensive for what they offer.

    If you’ve been once, there is really no need to ever visit Biltmore again.
