Note here from loyal reader Jenny:

Friends & Artists of Asheville –
I’m forwarding you this info because this is a wonderful new program designed by the City to provide opportunities for our local artists as well as keep our local retail spaces from going empty and unused.  We’ve seen models in other major cities and it is a great thing economically for everyone when you place artists inside of currently empty retail space.
The City’s program, smART Space, is putting out it’s first call for this program; giving an artist or an artist team the space next to the Dripolator in the Pioneer Building for 3 months time with a $1500 stipend to produce art.
The deadline to apply for this program is October 19th – and today & tomorrow there will be Info Sessions being held in the space on Broadway.
I’m including the info below about the Drop In Q&A sessions, as well as the link to the PDF online that tells about the application process.
Best wishes always,
Jenny Bowen
