For all you theater buffs, from HvilleScoop.com:

WHAT HAPPENED? Hendersonville City Council decided in principle to give Flat Rock Playhouse $100,000 to develop a 250-seat flexible use theater at 125 South Main Street for downtown plays, concerts and other performances.

The Playhouse’s Board of Directors asked for a total of $300,000 for the next three years, but City Council only approved giving $100,000 for the next year at this time.

WHY DO YOU CARE? Last year, the playhouse held three downtown productions and wants to expand that to 40 weeks out of the year in a Main Street location.

According to Flat Rock Playhouse representatives, that could bring between 50,000 and 75,000 theater patrons downtown and generate between $2.7 million and $4 million in economic activity
