I just received this tip from loyal reader Hambone:

I also heard that Jeff Green is no longer with Iwanna

And I’ve just confirmed that information. Jeff Green, the former publisher at the Asheville Citizen-Times, is out.

The news is surprising. Back in February, Green was promoted to president and CEO of the Iwanna division of Fayette Publishing, which owns the weekly Iwanna newspaper, which is packed with classified advertising. This year, Iwanna has been going great guns with an improved Web site and an expansion into the far western counties of Western North Carolina, and into upstate South Carolina.

In September 2006, Green came to Asheville to replace former Citizen-Times Publisher Virgil Smith, who had helmed the newspaper for 10 years. Green has worked in marketing and advertising for the Honulu Advertiser, and did the same at The Journal in Winston-Salem, the Washington Times and for Madison Newspapers in Wisconsin.

It doesn’t take long to catch up with him does it? Not a surprise to anyone who has worked for him.
