Hi Jason,

“Progressive surf rock monsters Daikaiju storm [stages] with their epic, Japanese-inspired brand of psycho-surf madness. Always performing behind kabuki masks with each member going only by their pseudonyms, the Alabama band’s shroud of mystery only seems to heighten the tension in the room when coupled with their highly aggressive, instrumental-only, and often interactive shows. Daikaiju take turns through metal, jazz, ambient, punk, ska, and more while always keeping one foot firmly rooted in tremolo-heavy, staccato style, Dick Dale surf rock. Known for displaying a high level of musicianship often a notch above many of their revivalist peers, Daikaiju breathe fire on any notion of a gimmick and let their music do the talking. Westerners, you’ve been warned.” – J. Scott Soldinger (Flavorpill Miami)

Daikaiju are on a roll – after being named one of 12 local bands to watch in 2012 by AL.com in a list that includes Alabama Shakes, and fresh off a five week tour of Europe, they continue their relentless road assault into the American Southeast. The band is getting set to release “Double Fist Attack”, one of a string of vinyl 7″ records that they’ll be releasing as they prepare their third full-length album, which follows two critically-acclaimed full-lengths – a self-titled debut that garnered a 7.8 from Pitchfork, and the sophomore follow-up Phase 2, which made a Metal Injection list of top 10 albums of 2010. Sample the new music video for “Double Fist Attack”, and see Daikaiju on tour this summer in Asheville at The Get Down on July 19th.
