A group of about 50 Asheville folks dressed up and celebrated Valentine’s Day early this past weekend over at Echo Mountain Studio. The crew served as extras for a music video shot there for musician Ben Lovett.

Arriving late on a cold night, the extras were organized via e-mail. Their only instruction – come dressed in pink, red, black or some combination thereof. And dress it up.

The extras were first greeted with make-up artists, who hit everybody with brushes full of glitter, then rouge. They were then ushered into an upstairs room decked out in fine Valentine’s Day fashion. There were red-and-white balloons, streamers and a hearts adorning walls and ceiling. A band on stage jammed, and three singers crowded around a mic. The whole effect was a kind of retro 1960s high school dance party.

An energetic Lovett worked the crowd, and worked the three or four video cameras that surrounded the scene. Free beer kept the dancers lubricated and, well, dancing.

The video is supposed to be complete for a Valentine’s Day release. Keep you’re eyes peeled.

Here’s more about another recent video Lovett did.
