New hotel planned for former Howard Johnson’s motor lodge site near Biltmore Village

The old Howard Johnson’s motor lodge near Biltmore Village just south of Asheville is set to be demolished in the next month or two. A spokesman for the property said last week that a new Holiday Inn would be built on the hill overlooking Biltmore Village.

Asheville is seeing a wave of new hotel construction, most of it centered around downtown Asheville. Here’s a review of the projects already underway or in the works.

Check out a few photos of the Howard Johnson’s. And addition is at least 30 years old, the spokesman said, with the original building probably more like 50 years old.
