A new website in Asheville plans to be the comprehensive music calendar and review site for town. Every Damn Show Ever! will attempt to deploy a small group of people to every live music show in town and review it.

From Every Damn Show Ever (Asheville):

Everyone who lives here can tell you that for a little mountain town, there are an incredibly large amount of great live music shows. Yet, there is no one web source that a person can visit to read reviews on recent shows or to find out about all of the live music shows coming to town. Every Damn Show Ever is an attempt by a small group of people in the Asheville music community to go to every damn show in Asheville and review them. This is an effort to create a relic, a historical record, if you will, of the live music scene our great city has to offer.

That’s a noble goal, and I’ll be anxiously awaiting results. But I know from experience that it’s going to be tough to achieve. Local media outlets devote significant resources toward compiling, editing and updating comprehensive entertainment calendars. In terms of trying to cover all the live music, there’s got to be a couple of dozen events, if you include everything from the major venues to the bars, clubs and restaurants. That’s one major undertaking.

Good luck!

Has this project already fallen by the wayside? It's been two weeks since this initial writeup and the front page of the website still says "Coming soon…"

Maybe the authors have been working feverishly to cover all of the shows?

Will this website include classical music? Lots of that going on in Asheville.

There is no way that *every single show* will ever be covered. Just like you say, a noble undertaking but comprehensive coverage is overly ambitious IMO…there are just way too many events! More power to them if they can accomplish it though.

That said, I feel like I have been creating a "relic, a historical record, if you will, of the live music scene our great city has to offer" for the past 10+ years. I will be the first to admit my efforts are not comprehensive either but I don't intend them to be. Since 2000 I have been recording/archiving audio of live performances of bands that allow such recordings to take place. There are others in town (and around the country) that do this as well but most of my focus has been on *local shows* (by bands of local, regional, and national origin.)

This is not even a comprehensive list of shows I've recorded but check out this link for some examples: http://www.archive.org/bookmarks/Ashevillain

My motivation is mainly selfish in that I do it because I like to listen to live recordings of shows I've been to….but that doesn't mean there isn't an archival aspect to it as well as I've definitely recorded music that I'm not that into just so I can have a record of it.
