asheville_marathon_2014Registration is now open for the 2014 Asheville Marathon at Biltmore Estate. The cost to enter now is $135. More:

In the Asheville Marathon, held on the grounds at Biltmore Estate, runners will explore 26.2 miles through America’s Largest Backyard. Inaugural Asheville Marathoners will wind through paved roads to see hardwood forest,  meadows,  gardens, and will see extraordinary views of the Biltmore House and the estate.  Undeniable beauty comes with a price. With the European-style formal gardens left in your wake, you will move into a much different passageway, encompassed by untamed foliage and less civilized terrain. The wild side of Biltmore: Where few eyes have seen… Where few feet have trod… a different kind of Biltmore experience awaits.

If you sign up for the marathon, be sure to use my name in the referred by section. You will receive a special gift at the expo. I am an Asheville Marathon Ambassador and our goal is to get the word out about the marathon!

It’s nice that they run this little private event, but it seems like they should give up the “Asheville Marathon” name to the Citizen-Times-run event that actually uses the streets of Asheville. This one can be the Biltmore Marathon.

Maybe the wind chill will make it to 20 degrees this year.
