Release date set for new Avett Brothers CD, The Carpenter, recorded in Asheville

In January of last year the band started recording songs here in Asheville at Echo Mountain Recording Studio. The follow-up to 2009’s I and Love And You is scheduled for release on Sept. 11.

I and Love and You was also recorded in part in Asheville, and the Avetts have a long history here–as Concord, N.C. natives, they’ve played our city since the ’90s, long before they were famous.

From Paste Magazine:

The trio recently previewed one of the new album’s songs, “Live and Die,” in the form of a video promoting the Legendary Giveback, a benefit concert they’ll be playing in Charlottesville, Va., on Oct. 19. Proceeds will go to family aid organizations across the country, and the concert will be streamed live to anyone who makes a commitment to volunteer in their community through event sponsor Cheerwine’s website.
