Sierra Nevada is sharing a rendering of its brewery coming to Mills River. From the Sierra Nevada website:

This area is pastoral, quiet, and only a 20-minute drive from the city of Asheville, NC. The site is set on approximately 190 acres on the French Broad River—property purchased from a family that had owned and cared for it over the last 100 years. The majority of the site will be kept wild and intact; we have plans to develop a trail system with river access. At a minimum, the new brewery will be LEED certified, with a focus on alternative energy, environmentally conscious construction, reforestation and river quality monitoring and protection.

From Ryan Arnold at Sierra Nevada:

There are several architectural and design teams contributing to this project, including some talented groups from the Asheville area. Samsel Architects is leading a handful of independent structures on the site (e.g. housing maintenance equipment); Design Workshop is spearheading landscape architecture and design; and William G. Lapsley & Associates of Hendersonville is the civil engineer.

From BeerPulse below, some “early exploratory drawings” that Arnold explains aren’t what the final product will be like (the image above represents current plans for the brewery):

The watercolor drawings were shared with us when we were still selecting design partners. Ultimately we went in a different direction with different partners, and we don’t want the community to mistakenly think that’s what’s being built. The rendering we’ve published on our website gives folks an accurate idea of the brewery.

According to the Sierra Nevada site, the brewery will be operational by 2014.

Sierra Nevada is awesome. Its great that New Belgium is getting the publicity, cause they pay for advertising. Sierra Nevada does not really have an advertising budget. Ken Grossman from the beginning has used word of mouth, the hops vine as you will. Other than selling Shirts, hats, glasses, & golf bags etc, you don’t see ads. Its amazing that Ken & his old partner used to sell the Pale Ale & Porter out of an ice chest transported in a little kids wagon at events around Chico.

It looks almost exactly like the new Buncombe County Animal Protection Society adoption center, but with more glass.

Thanks for keeping up on Sierra. I feel that the conversation is dominated by New Belgium. Both are exceptional and I think Sierra has got a bit lost in it all. This place looks amazing and I’m so proud that they are coming here.

Mary, I’m looking into it, but neither BeerPulse nor SN seems to have provided the info. Do you know who created the images?
