On Christmas Eve, the WLOSers who had to work kept their show pretty simple – Santa and snow. Russ “Beefcake” Bowen, Julie Blunder and Kassandra “Special K” Pride held down the fort.

Last-minute shoppers
Special K didn’t want to stereotype or anything, but she did a story on how men were the majority of procrastinators and still shopping on Christmas Eve. K went to the mall, and sure enough, there were lines of dudes at check-outs and wrapping stations. One guy lied and said he’d been sick witht he flu. Another guy she talked to was straight up and said, yeah, his tradition is to pretty much wait till the last minute.

While she was at the mall and at Best But, Special K also asked some people about what they were buying and what they’ll eat on Christmas, all for a long filler segment the WLOSers call “Sound-off Sunday” or something like that.

Snow, snow, snow
Over in the weather center, Julie said the National Weather Service had issued a winter storm watch for Tuesday, since a lot of people will be traveling that day. She said we’ll get rain, and that rain could turn into snow Monday night and Tuesday.

Julie highlighted the Tennessee border counties, and said the best chance for snow was in those counties like Madison, Mitchell and Avery, and at elevations above 3,000 feet.

We’ll see.

Baseball coach resigns
In news that everybody else had a day ago, Russ read a wire report that said the Blue Ridge Community College baseball coach will resign. The school’s baseball program has been scrutinized by state community college officials, who said money was misappropriated.

Santa delivers the hook-up
Santa was working with the Leicester Fire Department to deliver toys to needy children out in west Buncombe. In the best boner of the night, some dumb WLOSer wrote a graphic to go with the story that said “Greatful” children. Nice work.

Speaking of bumbling…
We think Julie might have had a little too much Christmas cheer at dinner, because she was bumbling and stumbling over reading her weather report. Then she put up some nice animation that she said was really Santa and his sleigh careening around the globe. During her report, you could hear Russ going, “Ho, ho, ho.” And then, “O my goodness.” Then he told the kiddies is was time to get their asses to bed.

No green diamonds for Russ
After a report about expensive gifts for millionaires, which included a giant and rare green diamond, Russ sniffed that he really didn’t think the green diamond was all that cute.
