If you haven’t been reading the Mountain Xpress lately, you’ve been missing out on a lot of hot air being blown around. It’s been the pagans vs. the Stompers.

A couple weeks back, the witches at Coven Oldenwilde challenged the conservative Carolina Stompers group to a public debate. The pagans were still hot over a Stompers television ad that made light of the witches’ effort last summer to save the giant magnolia tree on City-County Plaza. As you recall, City Council candidate Elaine Lite took part in that ritual, which the Stompers taped and used as an ad targeting Lite.

The Stompers’ Chad Nesbitt responded in the latest issue of Mountain X, dismissing the coven but issuing his own challenge to Buncombe County Democrats, the group he sees as the real enemy.

What does Chad want to debate? Here’s the list:

-The purpose and the way we fight the war on terror
-Was our country founded on Christianity?
-Conservatives or Liberals – who puts more money in your pocket to keep and how?
-The future of Buncombe County: jobs, taxes, environment, health care, sustained government
-Is the way you have sex a civil right?
-Democrats or Republicans – who is the champion for minorities in America?

Should be fun to watch. Somebody set it up!

Why give these morons a forum?

A debate is less about facts than who is the best as torturing logic.
