Traffic sucks
With Russ Bowen at the anchor desk as usual, WLOSer Kassandra “Special K” Pride brought us a horrible lead story about a bunch of traffic wrecks on I-26 and I-40. The audio on Special K’s report was awful and she bungled her words a few times.

Special K told us that a total of eight cars were involved in wrecks on I-26 at some point Sunday at exits 32 and 33. She said people following one another too closely caused the wrecks. Then she said that nine cars were involved in a pileup on I-40 at exit 35. She talked to people who weren’t happy about having to wait in traffic for an hour or so.

Of course, she told us all this while standing on the side of an interstate where traffic was moving quite smoothly.

In other news…
The UNC Board of Governors voted to cap tuition increases at 6.5 percent for the next four years… It was a pretty day Sunday, but rain is coming… A four-week bridge repair project on Luther Road near the intersection with Justice Road in Buncombe County means a two-mile detour for drivers… Nine firefighters and EMS workers were honored in an annual firefighters memorial service in downtown Ashvegas. All nine died of natural causes, not in the line of duty… Dozens of motorcyclists rode around to raise money for breast cancer research … And the N.C. Arboretum hosted a bonsai expo.
