Steep Canyon Rangers play

Here’s the info from thebluegrassblog.com. Click over to listen to the full interview. As we know, the Steep Canyon Rangers have recorded with Steve Martin before, but this report says the new record is a full-on group effort, with songs written by Steve and arranged by the band. Wow!

Katy Daley had Woody Platt from Steep Canyon Rangers on her Bluegrass Country show this morning, and he shared some pretty cool news about their upcoming collaboration project with Steve Martin.

Turns out that after five days in the studio with Steve in Asheville, the guys are heading to LA to track a song with The Dixie Chicks on Tuesday. Woody also confirmed that one of the songs they tracked this week is slated to include a guest appearance from Paul McCartney. Pretty lofty company for a bunch of bluegrass boys from North Carolina.

Platt also brags a bit about the band’s Mountain Song festival in Brevard, NC which takes place September 10-11, and their IBMA nomination for Instrumental Recorded Performance of the Year.
