Note here from loyal reader Crissa:

Hey Jason,

Toubab Krewe is going to be rocking the outdoor Pisgah stage on Saturday night, July 9th. We’d really love to spread the word to the AshVegas community and make this a party for the books. For the show, Toubab will be joined by their new drummer, Asheville-native Vic Stafford AND some special guests.

I’m not sure if you’ve had a chance to share this home-grown music video of Cluck Old Hen with your readers yet, so if not, please do!

Best,

Crissa

Quick update… This will be a VERY special show with 'double drums.' To give Vic a proper Asheville welcome and give Teal a proper Asheville send-off, both drummers will be playing that night.

    Re: camping

There is nowhere for campers to set up on that property. They don't own the parking area and I'm sure it would be a logistical nightmare to try to allow people to camp. Also there is a KOA campground less than a mile down US70 so that pretty much eliminates any desire for PBC to offer that service.

    Re: Floating Action

I was under the impression that The Secret B-Sides are opening (especially since that's what it says on the website). I think Floating Action is playing the late night set on the indoor stage.

I'm sure it's an awesome venue and all, but I still haven't made it out there because they have yet to book a band that appeals to anyone outside of the jam/folk/funk/fusion fanbase. Granted, it IS Asheville so it's always a safe bet that people will pile up in droves to hear Dark Star pantomime their way through some random Dead set from 1977 (*yawn*), but if it's the local venue of the future, there should be more diversity. Mix it up, bra. Just sayin'.

With Dark Star Orchestra playing there the night before, they should sell two-day tickets and let folks camp out there Friday night. Also since this venue holds more people than The Orange Peel, I would love to see some even bigger names booked out there. This could be the outdoor music venue we have been waiting for for years.
