UPDATE THURSDAY: According to Craig McAnsh, owner of Mojo Coworking, if the new lot works out with city permitting it will be at 73 Market Street, currently the parking lot of the studio of artist Genie Maples:

McAnsh wants the food trucks in close proximity because Market Street will also be the new home of Mojo Coworking, set to open in mid-September. His business will bring at least 20 people, with more to come. There are also government and attorney offices nearby. The two restaurants on the street — Vincenzo’s and Magnolia’s — don’t serve lunch.

(Irony over the possible location remains, but according to Maples, the new food truck lot won’t be at 73 Market. Her lot is too small.)

There’s certainly an irony here: Vincenzo’s owner Dwight Butner was the most vocal and ardent opponent of downtown food trucks. Ashvegas loves the small of karma at lunchtime.

There’s a new food truck parking lot in the works for downtown Asheville, according to this tweet from Mojo Coworking:

We are getting close to locking in a place on Market Street for food trucks. Can’t wait for my Flying Falafels, El Kimchi and Gypsy Queen

Mojo Coworking should know. Owner Craig McAnsh is preparing to moving his co-working business into big a big new space on north Market Street.

Right now, food trucks downtown gather in just one parking lot on Coxe Avenue. On any given day, three or four food trucks can be found at The Lot, serving up their delicious offerings. A new parking place downtown for food trucks would be a great addition.

So there would be two food truck lots downtown? Or is Market St. replacing Coxe Ave.?

Yikes – this is not happening. I was asked about using the tiny lot at my studio, but it’s only two parking spaces wide, and not suitable for the purpose.

To clarify, that 73 Market street site is my studio parking lot. Maybe someone else on the street is planning to host, but it’s definitely not happening at this address.
